HOT WAX by GREGG

HOT WAX by Gregg Witbeck

Summer is difinitely here, and the new releases are just as hot. Some of the old Disco standbys are back, and stronger than ever.

Lime, "LIME III" (Prism LP) Another excellent offering from Denis Lepage. All of the songs on each side are segued for continous dancing and listening. Only one word can describe this LP, HOT!!

Lipps, Inc., "ADDICTED TO THE NIGHT" (Casablanca 12")

After an extended silence, Steve Greenberg is back, stronger than ever.. "Funkytown" should have sounded this good.

Loverde, "BACKSTREET ROMANCE" (Moby Dick 12")

The follow-up to "Die Hard Lover" is a smash! This is very P. Cowley. sounding even though it was written and produced by Tip Wirrick. Tight harmonies, pounding synthesizers, and crashing breaks can't help but move you across the dance floor. This 12" proceeds their upcoming LP. One-Two-Three, "ONE-TWO-THREE" (prelude LP)

Bobby Orlando will keep us dancing forever. You've already heard "Runaway". This LP has everything from Disco, "Midnite Fantasy". to New Wave, "Falling In Love With Myself", to the soulful "My Last Broken Heart". There is definitely something for everyone here. Taco, "PUTTIN' ON THE RITZ" (RCA 12")

This record is possibly the camp offering of the year. It is a little different from the things that I usually review, but it's hot and it's fun. Give it a listen.

If you like the music that you hear in the bars, there are two things that you should do. First, buy them. Let the record companies know what you want. Secondly, call. the radio stations, and tell your club DJ's so that we can try to program them. You are a part of this too!!

This month the spotlight is on Karla, the Head DJ at the new TROUBADOUR LOUNGE in Youngstown.

FUN FACTS

Marcel Proust once lent his friend Albert Le Cuziat a great deal of money so that he could open his own business a Gay Brothel. Serge Diaghilev's last protege was a young choregrapher named Balanchivadze; we knew him better as George Balanchine.
